Benjamin "Benjie" Burford

Benjamin Burford is C.E.O. of Conlon & Co, CONLON: A Real Estate Company/Christie’s International Real Estate (CONLON/Christie’s), CONLON Commercial, Director of Conlon RE Limited and a Member of the Investment Committee. In these roles, he is responsible for strategy, new business development and global operations.
During his ten years at Conlon & Co, Mr. Burford has overseen extraordinary growth at the firm. He co-founded and launched a $50 million real estate opportunity fund, co-founded both CONLON/Christie’s International Real Estate and CONLON Commercial driving these companies from 40 agents and $70 million in sales their first year to 250 agents and almost $1 billion in sales by the seventh year.
During this time, Mr. Burford executed the acquisition and management of over $150 million in property in Chicago, the Carolinas and Florida as part of Conlon & Co.’s property portfolio. From distressed properties to environmental remediation to hotels as well as retail and high-rise condominium developments, he was responsible for all facets of the properties. Moreover, he provided real estate portfolio advisory services on the over $250 million in property to some of Chicago’s wealthiest high net worth families.
Most recently, Mr. Burford is a founding partner and principal for Conlon & Co.’s newest portfolio company: Conlon Capital. Conlon Capital will provide commercial financial solutions to meet all of our client’s capital stack needs.
Before joining Conlon & Co, Mr. Burford spent a successful five years as a consultant with the Chicago office of McKinsey & Company. As a consultant, his work included developing global growth, new business development and marketing strategies for the top clients in a variety of industries from telecommunication companies to consumer goods manufacturers. He also worked in private equity evaluating merger and acquisition targets.
Prior to joining McKinsey & Company, Mr. Burford worked for the General Electric Company as a product manager, where he managed an $80 million global product line launching over 60 new products in one year. He also served as a market development manager, responsible for developing new retail clients.
Additionally, he spent seven years in the United States Air Force Special Operations Command in several special operations units flying MC-130H aircraft in locations across the globe.
Mr. Burford graduated with an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago’s Graduate School of Business. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and Spanish from Purdue University as a distinguished graduate. Mr. Burford is an avid cyclist and world traveler. He is fluent in Spanish having studied at the Center for International Studies in Madrid and I.E.S.E. in Barcelona. He is also proficient in French.
